FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If appropriate and complete documentation is provided when a request is submitted, the evaluation process usually requires  six weeks from the time the request is received by FACS, depending on the evaluation volume at the time the request is received. Applicants abroad are advised to submit their evaluation requests four to six months in advance of their board’s testing window in order to allow sufficient time to secure a visa, make travel and hotel arrangements, and to complete the application process including arranging for proctoring in another state.

FACS accepts check or money order made payable in US Dollars. Payment by check or money order from outside the US must be issued from a bank that has branches in the US and include bank routing numbers. Credit card payment is not accepted.

Official records should be sent to us directly by the schools you have attended. If the school does not send official copies to third parties, you should send the original copies of your records. Original records will be returned if so requested. Copies of original records will be accepted if they are officially notarized and certified as true copies by the issuing school, a U.S. educational foundation, A U.S. Consul, AMIDEAST or a similar agency. If you have further questions about the records you should submit, you can e-mail FACS at facs@aol.com.

Does FACS offer Rush Services?

Rush Services are offered on the application form for evaluation.  Rush Services begin upon receipt and approval of all required documents, application forms and fee payments.  Applications with rush service requested are reviewed within 48 hours of receipt.  Mailing time is not included in rush service time frame.  Mailing options may be selected on the form.

If additional information is required to complete the evaluation, and it cannot be provided within the time frame for rush services, we will place the application in the regular processing queue and refund the rush service fee, minus a processing fee. The processing fee is 25% of the rush service fee. If selecting Rush Service, you must initial that you accept this policy on the application form.

Will FACS return my original records?

Original records submitted by the applicant will be returned if so requested. A note must be included on the application form, and mailing services for the return of original records are provided on page four (4) of the application form. FACS does not accept liability for loss or damage of records during mailing.

What happens if the documents submitted are not sufficient for evaluation?

If the documentation submitted is not sufficient for evaluation, FACS may request the applicant to provide additional or other records and/or to complete supplemental forms describing his or her educational preparation. The applicant will be notified of additional documents required by e-mail or post. Documents requested must be provided within a one-year period, at which time records will be discarded and the evaluation process will have to be initiated again.

Can I apply to the board of accountancy or CPA Examination Services before I receive my evaluation?

Yes. You are advised to apply for the Uniform CPA Examination as soon as you know to which testing window you will apply. If you prefer to receive your evaluation before you apply for the Uniform CPA Examination, you should submit your evaluation request to FACS as soon as possible.

Will FACS confirm receipt of my evaluation request?

Yes. FACS will confirm receipt of your evaluation request form by e-mail. An accurate e-mail address must be clearly provided on the application form. Please add “facs@aol.com” to your e-mail address book to avoid our messages being marked as SPAM. E-mail confirmation is sent once the evaluation request form has been entered into our computer system; please allow 1-2 weeks from the posted date to receive your confirmation.

Will FACS confirm status of my request?

Applicants may check the status of their application either by telephone, or by e-mail.  Our telephone number is (618) 656-5291, and telephone hours are 10 AM – 5 PM CST Monday – Thursday.  E-mail requests may be sent to facs@aol.com.  Please include your full name and date of birth.

What should I do if I have courses in progress?

Your college or university should send FACS an official certificate reporting the courses in which you are currently enrolled. Applicants to states that provide Certificates of Enrollment, who are currently enrolled in courses at a college or university outside the United States, should submit a Certificate of Enrollment reporting these courses to FACS.

Subsequently, if you wish an evaluation to include these courses as completed, you should request another evaluation from FACS, and have your school send us an official transcript of your academic record reporting your completion of these courses and submit an evaluation fee payment.

Can you advise me as to which board of accountancy I should apply for the CPA Examination?

FACS does not advise individuals about the board of accountancy to which they should apply. You should review the requirements of the various boards of accountancy in order to determine the board(s) to which you should apply.

FACS issues general document-by-document evaluations for other purposes. Please contact our office to see if we can be of assistance to you. Please note we do not prepare evaluations for engineering licensing and health profession licenses (e.g. medical, nursing, physical therapy, et al.)
