For Allegheny County Health Department

The Allegheny County Health Department’s (ACHD) mission is to protect, promote, and preserve the health and well-being of all residents, particularly the most vulnerable. The ACHD strives to assure quality public health services by promoting individual and community wellness, preventing injury, illness and premature death or disability, and protecting residents from the harmful effects of chemical, biological and physical hazards within the environment. We serve more than 1.2 million residents in southwestern Pennsylvania. The ACHD has conducted effective programming to improve residents’ well-being for 60 years. Significant progress has been made lowering infant mortality, preventing infectious diseases and safeguarding the environment, and in dealing with new and emerging threats to public health.
